Walk For Life Detroit is a family friendly event that raises funding for the life-affirming work of Care Net Pregnancy Center Berkley | Detroit, serving Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties and beyond.
The day will start by checking in at the front near the zoo entrance at the pregnancy center table you have chosen to raise funding for. There you will pick up your T-shirt and receive your admission ticket. You will then head to the Pavillion (see map) for light breakfast treats, coffee and juice. You will have the opportunity to meet other walkers, learn more about the work of our pregnancy center and also engage with Event Sponsors.
The Walk For Life will officially kick-off from the Pavillion. Walkers will follow the 1.9 mile path while taking in the different zoo animal exhibits and the beauty of the Detroit Zoo! Once you’ve completed the walk, you may join us back at the pavilion for additional snacks and drinks up until noon or you may simply enjoy the rest of your day at the zoo at your leisure until closing time.
Care Net Berkley | Detroit is privately funded and relies heavily on the donations of individuals and small businesses to fulfill our commitment to offer life-affirming medical, educational, and material support and HOPE for women & men facing unplanned pregnancies. We serve thousands of women and babies each year in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County who often feel alone and uncertain about the future. By participating in the Walk For Life Detroit, you are part of a united community affirming the sanctity of human life and helping us raise critical funding in a fun & easy way.
In 2017, Care Net Berkley | Detroit set out to establish a Walk For Life that went beyond raising funding for their two centers in Berkley and Detroit. They had a vision to establish the largest Walk For Life in Detroit that would create awareness of Care Net and unite our efforts to raise funding to support their life-affirming work. Since 2019, the Walk For Life Detroit has been held uniting the work of multiple pregnancy centers in Southeast Michigan.
Lives lost to abortion continue to increase in our state and use of the abortion pill continues to rise. Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties make up for nearly ¾ of all abortion activity within our state. The need is still great for women facing unplanned pregnancy to know that the life of her baby has value because he or she is created in the image of God, and also that there is hope...and help.
